Role and Powers of the President:
1. The President is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces.
2. The President appoints the Prime Minister and other Ministers.
3. The President can dissolve the Lok Sabha and call for fresh elections.
4. The President can grant pardons, reprieves, and respites for offenses against the law.
5. The President can summon and prorogue sessions of the Parliament and address both the Houses of Parliament.

The President also has the power to promulgate ordinances when the Parliament is not in session. The President can also send back any bill for reconsideration if it is not in accordance with the Constitution.
