For the reaction A 3B gives 2C D initial mole of A is twice that B ...
Explanation:

  • Let the initial moles of B be x, then initial moles of A will be 2x.

  • Let the moles of B reacted be y.

  • At equilibrium, the moles of B and C are equal. Let it be z.

  • So, the moles of B left at equilibrium will be x - y and the moles of C formed will be 2z.

  • According to the balanced chemical equation, 3 moles of B gives 2 moles of C.

  • So, 3y moles of B will give 2z moles of C.

  • Equating the moles of C formed from B and the moles of C formed from A, we get:

    • 2z = 2x - 3y

    • z = x - (3/2)y

  • As given, at equilibrium, the moles of B and C are equal.

  • So, z = x - (3/2)y = y

  • On solving the above equation, we get y = 2x/5 and z = 2x/5.

  • The percentage of B reacted will be:

    • Percentage of B reacted = (moles of B reacted/initial moles of B) x 100

    • = (y/x) x 100

    • = (2x/5)/x x 100

    • = 40%

Therefore, the correct answer is option D, 60%.
