A: Slime moulds form fruiting bodies under unfavourable conditions.R: ...
The statements are correct.

Slime moulds are those members of the Protozoan kingsom, which are 100 percent non photosynthetic. In unfavourable conditions, they form fruiting bodies to proliferate, but, under favoured condition, they show naked protoplasmic conditions and proliferate freely. But here, the Statement B would not explain why fruiting bodies are formed under non favourable conditions.

And Reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion.

In this case, the Assertion states that slime moulds form fruiting bodies under unfavourable conditions. The Reason states that naked plasmodium is formed during favourable conditions.

The Reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion because when conditions are favourable, slime moulds exist as naked plasmodium, a mobile and feeding stage. However, when conditions become unfavourable, the slime moulds aggregate and form fruiting bodies as a means of reproduction and survival.

Therefore, both the Assertion and Reason are true, and the Reason is the correct explanation of the Assertion.
