Karl Landsteiner found out that the blood of two people under contact agglutinates, and in 1901 he found that this effect was due to contact of blood with blood serum. As a result, he succeeded in identifying the three blood groups A, B and O, which he labelled C, of human blood.
Karl Koller was an Austrian ophthalmologist, Koller introduced cocaine as a local anaesthetic for eye surgery.
Maurice Ralph Hilleman was an American microbiologist who specialised in vaccinology and developed over 40 vaccines, which consists of measles, mumps, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, chickenpox, meningitis, pneumonia and Haemophilus influenza bacteria. 
Edward Jenner was an English physician and scientist who was the pioneer of smallpox vaccine.
