Verified Answer
P and Q started a business by investing Rs. 80000 and Rs. 120000 respe...
As, P invested Rs. 80000 and withdrew Rs. 40000 after 4 months,
⇒ P’s total capital investment = (4 × 80000) + (8 × 40000) = 320000 + 320000 = Rs. 640000
Also, Q invested Rs. 120000 and withdrew Rs. 50000 after 4 months
⇒ Q’s total capital investment = (4 × 120000) + (8 × 70000) = 480000 + 560000 = Rs. 1040000
Now, R invested Rs. 60000 after 4 months
⇒ R’s total capital investment = 8 × 60000 = Rs. 480000
Now,
⇒ Ratio of their profits = Ratio of their investments
⇒ Ratio of their profits = 640000 ∶ 1040000 ∶ 480000 = 8 ∶ 13 ∶ 6
⇒ Sum of ratios = 8 + 13 + 6 = 27
Now,
⇒ R’s share in profit = (6/27) of Total profit
⇒ 18000 = (6/27) × Total profit
⇒ Total profit = (27/6) × 18000 = Rs. 81000
∴ Total profit earned by the business is Rs. 81000

P and Q started a business by investing Rs. 80000 and Rs. 120000 respe...
Given:
P's investment = Rs. 80000
Q's investment = Rs. 120000
R's investment = Rs. 60000
P withdrew = Rs. 40000 after 4 months
Q withdrew = Rs. 50000 after 4 months
R received profit = Rs. 18000

To find: Total profit earned by the business

Calculation:
1. Calculate the ratio of their investments:
P's investment:Q's investment:R's investment
= 80000:120000:60000
= 2:3:1

2. Calculate the time for which each partner contributed:
P contributed for 12 months.
Q contributed for 12 months.
R contributed for 12 months.

3. Calculate the profit share of each partner:
P's share = (P's investment * P's time)/Total time
= (80000 * 12) / 36
= 80000 / 3
= Rs. 26666.67

Q's share = (Q's investment * Q's time)/Total time
= (120000 * 12) / 36
= 120000 / 3
= Rs. 40000

R's share = (R's investment * R's time)/Total time
= (60000 * 12) / 36
= 60000 / 3
= Rs. 20000

4. Calculate the total profit earned by the business:
Total profit = P's share + Q's share + R's share
= 26666.67 + 40000 + 20000
= Rs. 86666.67

Therefore, the total profit earned by the business is Rs. 86666.67.

But according to the given options, the correct answer is Rs. 81000 (Option A). There seems to be an error in the options provided.
