W/W% stands for weight/weight percentage. It is a commonly used unit of concentration in chemistry. It represents the weight of solute present in a certain volume of solution.

Formula to calculate W/W%
W/W% can be calculated using the following formula:

W/W% = (mass of solute / mass of solution) x 100

Calculation of mass of NaCl in 1 liter of 1.2 m NaCl solution
The molar mass of NaCl is 58.5 g/mol. Therefore, 1.2 moles of NaCl will weigh:

Mass of NaCl = 1.2 moles x 58.5 g/mol
Mass of NaCl = 70.2 g

Calculation of mass of solution
We know that 1 liter of solution contains 1.2 moles of NaCl. The density of water is 1 g/mL. Therefore, 1 liter of solution weighs:

Mass of solution = 1 liter x 1 g/mL
Mass of solution = 1000 g

Calculation of W/W%
Using the formula mentioned above, we can calculate the W/W% of NaCl in the given solution:

W/W% = (mass of solute / mass of solution) x 100
W/W% = (70.2 g / 1000 g) x 100
