The permissible stress in a fillet weld is given as 100 N/mm2.

Fillet weld leg lengths

The fillet weld has equal leg lengths of 15 mm each.

Allowable shearing load

The allowable shearing load on per cm length of the weld can be calculated using the formula:

Allowable shearing load (P) = Permissible stress (σ) x Effective throat area (A)

The effective throat area (A) of the fillet weld can be calculated using the formula:

Effective throat area (A) = leg length (l) x 0.707

Substituting the values in the above equations, we get:

Effective throat area (A) = 15 x 0.707 = 10.61 mm2

Allowable shearing load (P) = 100 x 10.61 = 1061 N/cm

Converting the above value to KN/cm, we get:

Allowable shearing load (P) = 1.061 KN/cm
