In a compressible fluid, such as air at supersonic speeds, this principle still holds, but with some modifications.

For a fluid flowing through a converging nozzle, for example, the area of the nozzle decreases and the velocity increases, due to the conservation of mass and momentum. However, when the fluid exits the nozzle into a larger area, the velocity decreases and the pressure increases, again due to the principle of continuity. This is why supersonic aircraft have a tapered shape, with a narrower nose and wider tail, to maintain supersonic speeds while minimizing drag.
