Verified Answer
Which one of the following was NOT the result of the Treaty of Vienna ...
Treaty of Vienna of 1815 was signed with the objective of undoing most of the changes that had come about in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. The Bourbon dynasty, which had been deposed during the French Revolution, was restored to power, and France lost the territories it had annexed under Napoleon. A series of states were set up on the boundaries of France to prevent French expansion in the future. The German confederation of 39 states that had been set up by Napoleon was left untouched.  The main intention was to restore the monarchies that had been overthrown by Napoleon, and create a new conservative order in Europe.

Which one of the following was NOT the result of the Treaty of Vienna ...
The correct option is b. Australia was given control of Northern Italy.

Explanation:
The Treaty of Vienna, also known as the Congress of Vienna, was a diplomatic conference held in 1814-1815. Its main objective was to redraw the map of Europe after the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte and to establish a new balance of power among the European nations. While the treaty had significant consequences for the political landscape of Europe, it did not result in Australia gaining control of Northern Italy.

Here are the key outcomes of the Treaty of Vienna 1815:

1. The Kingdom of the Netherlands: As a result of the treaty, the Kingdom of the Netherlands was established in the north. This new state was created by combining the Dutch Republic and the Austrian Netherlands (modern-day Belgium). The Dutch king, William I, became the ruler of this newly formed kingdom.

2. Prussia's Importance: Prussia, under the leadership of its chancellor Otto von Bismarck, was not given importance on its western frontiers through the Treaty of Vienna. Instead, it was given a significant role in the German Confederation, a loose association of 39 German states that aimed to promote economic cooperation and mutual defense.

3. Russian Influence: The Treaty of Vienna did not give Russia control over a German confederation of 39 states. However, it did grant Russia significant influence in the German Confederation, along with Austria and Prussia. These three powers became known as the "Big Three" and played a dominant role in the affairs of the confederation.

In conclusion, the Treaty of Vienna 1815 did not result in Australia gaining control of Northern Italy. The correct option is b.
