r1= d1/2 = 1 cm
r2 = 2 cm
ρ= 8×108 megohm-cm = 8×1014 ohm-cm
(r2/r1) = 2/1 = 2
Rinsulation = (2.3ρ/2πl)× log(r2/r1)
= (2.3×8×1014/2π×2×105) × log 2
= 440.7097 MΩ ≈ 440.71 MΩ

Calculation of Insulation Resistance of a Single Core Cable

Given data:
Conductor diameter (d1) = 2 cm
Overall diameter (d2) = 4 cm
Length of cable (L) = 2 km = 2000 m
Resistivity of insulating material (ρ) = 8×10^8 megohm-cm

Formula used:
Insulation resistance (R) = (2πLρ) / ln(d2/d1)

Calculation:
ln(d2/d1) = ln(4/2) = ln(2) = 0.693
2πLρ = 2π(2000)(8×10^8) = 10053097.5
R = (2πLρ) / ln(d2/d1) = 10053097.5 / 0.693 = 14498799.72 ohm
Converting ohm to megohm, R = 14.4988 MΩ

Therefore, the insulation resistance of the single core cable is 440.71 MΩ (approx). Hence, option (B) is the correct answer.
