Animal Groups Possessing Organ System Level of Organisation, Bilateral Symmetry and True Coelomates with Segmentation of Body

Organ system level of organisation, bilateral symmetry and true coelomates with segmentation of body are important characteristics of animal groups. Annelida, Arthropoda and Chordata are the animal groups that possess all the above characteristics.

Annelida

Annelids are segmented worms that possess a true coelomate body cavity. They have a well-developed nervous system and circulatory system. Their body is divided into a series of segments, each with its own set of muscles and nerve ganglia.

Arthropoda

Arthropods are a diverse group of animals that includes insects, spiders, crustaceans and other invertebrates. They possess a segmented body, a true coelomate body cavity and a well-developed nervous system. They also have jointed appendages and an exoskeleton made of chitin.

Chordata

Chordates are a group of animals that includes vertebrates and their closest invertebrate relatives. They possess a segmented body and a true coelomate body cavity. They also have a notochord, a dorsal nerve cord, pharyngeal slits and a post-anal tail.

Conclusion

Annelida, Arthropoda and Chordata are the animal groups that possess all the above characteristics, namely organ system level of organisation, bilateral symmetry and true coelomates with segmentation of body.
