12 signal each band-limited to 5 KHz are to be transmitted over a sin...
The total signal Bankwith = 5 × 12 = 60 KHz
There would be 11 guard band between 12 signal,
So, guard band width
Total band width = 60 + 11 = 71 KHz

Calculation of Bandwidth of Multiplexed Signal

Given:

Number of signals = 12

Bandwidth of each signal = 5 KHz

Guard band = 1 KHz

Formula Used:

Bandwidth of multiplexed signal = (Number of signals × Bandwidth of each signal) + Guard band

Calculation:

Number of signals = 12

Bandwidth of each signal = 5 KHz

Total bandwidth of signals = Number of signals × Bandwidth of each signal = 12 × 5 = 60 KHz

Guard band = 1 KHz

Bandwidth of multiplexed signal = Total bandwidth of signals + Guard band = 60 + 1 = 71 KHz

Therefore, the bandwidth of the multiplexed signal is 71 KHz.

Answer: (c) 71 KHz.
