Verified Answer
Artificial breeding of cattle is brought about bya)Artificial insemina...
Artificial breeding method of cattle involves following methods:
(i) In artificial insemination (Al) method, the semen of superior male is collected and injected into the reproductive tract of the selected female by the breeder. The semen can be used immediatel or can be frozen for later use.
(ii) In multiple ovulation embryo transfer technology (MOET) method, hormones (with FSH-like activity) are given to the cow for inducing follicular maturation and super ovulation. Instead of one egg, which they usually giver per cycle, they produce 6-8 eggs. The cow is either mated with a best bull or artifically inseminated. The embros at 8-32 cells stage are recovered and transferred to surrogate mothers. The genetic mother is available for another super ovulation. MOET has been done in cattle sheep, rabbits, buffaloes, mares, etc.

Artificial breeding of cattle is a process that involves the use of various techniques to control and enhance reproduction in cattle. These techniques include artificial insemination, superovulation and embryo transplantation, and MOET (Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer). All of these methods play a crucial role in improving the efficiency and productivity of cattle breeding programs.

1. Artificial Insemination:
- Artificial insemination (AI) is the process of introducing semen from a selected bull into the reproductive tract of a female cow without natural mating.
- This technique allows for the use of genetically superior bulls, regardless of their geographical location.
- It helps in the rapid dissemination of desirable genetic traits, such as improved milk production, disease resistance, and meat quality.
- AI also reduces the risk of transmitting genetic disorders and diseases that can occur during natural mating.

2. Superovulation and Embryo Transplantation:
- Superovulation is a technique used to stimulate the cow to produce a larger number of eggs during each reproductive cycle.
- This is achieved by administering hormone treatments to the cow.
- The cow is then bred with a bull, and the fertilized embryos are recovered and transferred to recipient cows.
- Embryo transplantation allows for the rapid propagation of genetically superior animals by transferring embryos from high-quality females to surrogate mothers.
- This technique is particularly useful for elite animals that have a limited reproductive lifespan or for those that are unable to carry pregnancies to term.

3. MOET (Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer):
- MOET is a technique that combines both superovulation and embryo transplantation.
- It involves inducing multiple ovulations in a cow, collecting the resulting embryos, and transferring them to recipient cows for development.
- MOET allows for the production of a large number of offspring from genetically superior cows or bulls.
- This technique significantly speeds up the genetic progress in a cattle breeding program.

In conclusion, artificial breeding of cattle is achieved through the combined use of artificial insemination, superovulation and embryo transplantation, and MOET. These techniques offer significant advantages in terms of genetic improvement, disease control, and reproductive efficiency in cattle breeding programs.
