Gonadotropic hormones are a group of hormones that regulate the growth and function of the gonads (ovaries and testes). They are secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland.

The anterior pituitary gland produces two types of gonadotropic hormones: follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH).

FSH:
- Stimulates the growth and development of ovarian follicles in females
- Stimulates the production of sperm in males

LH:
- Triggers ovulation in females
- Stimulates the production of testosterone in males

The secretion of gonadotropic hormones is regulated by the hypothalamus and feedback from the gonads. The hypothalamus produces gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which stimulates the anterior pituitary gland to release FSH and LH. Feedback from the gonads inhibits the secretion of GnRH and gonadotropic hormones when levels of sex hormones (estrogen and testosterone) are high.

In summary, the gonadotropic hormones FSH and LH are secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland and regulate the growth and function of the gonads.
