Which of the following is/are the federal features in the Indian Const...
The Constitution of India establishes a federal system of government. It contains many features of a federation, viz:
  • two government
  • division of powers
  • written Constitution
  • supremacy of Constitution
  • rigidity of Constitution
  • independent judiciary
  • bicameralism.
However, the Indian Constitution also contains a large number of unitary or non-federal features, viz.
  • a strong Centre
  • single Constitution
  • single citizenship
  • flexibility of Constitution
  • integrated judiciary
  • appointment of state governor by the Centre
  • all-India services o emergency provisions, and so on.
The term ‘Federation’ has nowhere been used in the Constitution. Article 1 describes India as a ‘Union of States’ which implies two things: one, Indian Federation is not the result of an agreement by the states; and two, no state has the right to secede from the federation.

Which of the following is/are the federal features in the Indian Const...
Introduction:
The Indian Constitution is a unique blend of federal and unitary features. It provides for a federal system of government with certain unitary features. In this question, we need to identify the federal features present in the Indian Constitution.

Explanation:
1. Single Constitution:
- The Indian Constitution is a single written document that governs the entire country.
- It provides for a division of powers between the central government and the state governments.
- Both the central and state governments derive their powers from the same Constitution.

2. Bicameralism:
- Bicameralism refers to the existence of two houses of the legislature - the lower house (Lok Sabha) and the upper house (Rajya Sabha).
- The Lok Sabha represents the people of India, while the Rajya Sabha represents the states and union territories.
- The presence of two houses ensures a system of checks and balances and allows for the representation of both the people and the states.

3. Integrated judiciary:
- The Indian Constitution provides for an integrated judiciary, where the Supreme Court is the highest judicial authority in the country.
- It has the power of judicial review and can interpret the Constitution and resolve disputes between the central and state governments.
- The Supreme Court acts as a guardian of the Constitution and ensures the supremacy of the federal structure.

Conclusion:
Out of the given options, option 'B' (2 only) is the correct answer. Bicameralism is a federal feature present in the Indian Constitution. Although the Indian Constitution is a single document and has an integrated judiciary, these features alone do not make it federal.
