The parietal cell of the stomach secrete Hydrochloric acid. HCl helps convert the inactive pepsinogen into the active pepsin enzyme. Pepsin help in the digestion of protein.
Hence, if the secretion of parietal cells of the gastric gland is blocked with an inhibitor, then pepsinogen won't be converted into active pepsin and protein digestion will be affected.
