P, Q, R and S are working on a project. Q can finish the task in 25 da...
Given:
- Q can finish the task in 25 days, working alone for 12 hours a day.
- R can finish the task in 50 days, working alone for 12 hours per day.
- Q worked 12 hours a day but took sick leave in the beginning for two days.
- R worked 18 hours a day on all days.

To find:
The ratio of work done by Q and R after 7 days from the start of the project.

Solution:
Step 1: Calculate the total work:
Since Q can finish the task in 25 days by working 12 hours a day, the total work can be calculated as:
Total work done by Q = Q's efficiency * Q's working hours * Q's total days
Total work done by Q = 1/25 * 12 * 25 = 12 units

Similarly, since R can finish the task in 50 days by working 12 hours a day, the total work can be calculated as:
Total work done by R = R's efficiency * R's working hours * R's total days
Total work done by R = 1/50 * 12 * 50 = 12 units

So, the total work required to complete the project is 12 units.

Step 2: Calculate the work done by Q and R after 7 days:
Q worked for 7 days, but took sick leave for 2 days, so Q effectively worked for 7 - 2 = 5 days.
Since Q worked for 12 hours a day, the work done by Q after 7 days can be calculated as:
Work done by Q after 7 days = Q's efficiency * Q's working hours * Q's total days
Work done by Q after 7 days = 1/25 * 12 * 5 = 12/5 units

R worked for 7 days, and since R worked for 18 hours a day, the work done by R after 7 days can be calculated as:
Work done by R after 7 days = R's efficiency * R's working hours * R's total days
Work done by R after 7 days = 1/50 * 18 * 7 = 63/25 units

Step 3: Calculate the ratio of work done by Q and R:
Ratio of work done by Q and R = Work done by Q after 7 days / Work done by R after 7 days
Ratio of work done by Q and R = (12/5) / (63/25) = 12/5 * 25/63 = 20/21

Therefore, the ratio of work done by Q and R after 7 days from the start of the project is 20:21 (option C).
