- Mitosis: Mitosis is the process of cell division that results in the formation of two identical daughter cells. In mitosis, each chromosome consists of two identical sister chromatids that are joined at a centromere. During anaphase of mitosis, the sister chromatids separate and move towards opposite poles of the cell. Hence, the number of chromatids in a chromosome at anaphase of mitosis is 1.

- Meiosis: Meiosis is the process of cell division that results in the formation of four genetically diverse daughter cells. Meiosis involves two rounds of cell division (meiosis I and meiosis II) and produces four haploid cells. In meiosis I, the homologous chromosomes pair up and exchange genetic material in a process called crossing-over. Each homologous chromosome consists of two sister chromatids that are joined at a centromere. During anaphase I of meiosis, the homologous chromosomes separate and move towards opposite poles of the cell. In meiosis II, the sister chromatids separate and move towards opposite poles of the cell. Hence, the number of chromatids in a chromosome at anaphase of meiosis II is 1.
