Due to immense heat and lack of drinking water , the sailor's mouths were perched and dry . They could not even speak ! It seemed as if their mouths were filled with dust . The fellow sailors looked at the ancient mariner with eyes full of hatred and disgust. They blamed him for the misery caused to them . In anger , they took off the cross around the Mariner's neck and put the dead Albatross around his neck .

It means that due to the complete dryness of the throught they could not speak even a single word they felt same as their throught was filled with soot( unburnt particle of unsaturated subtance black in colour) so they felt suffocationit says that  all the crew members of the ship looked towards the ancient way with an evil looks means very harshly bcs they being fickle minded people firmly believed all those extreme and bad conditions were been happened to them bcs of the sin comminted by him and the soul of an albatross was troubling and bothering him so to make the ancient mariner remember about his sin or evil work or misdeed forever  they hang that dead albatross around the neck of him as the punishment
