The number of mole of nitrogen in one litre of air containing 10% nitr...
The volume of nitrogen in the mixture is: 10% of the mixture = 10/100 x 1 liter = 0.1 liters Use ideal gas law to calculate the moles of the nitrogen gas. Ideal gas law states that 1 mole of an ideal gas occupies 22.4 liters by volume. Therefore, If 22.4 liters gives 1 mole, then what will 0.1 mole give? = ( 0.1 x1/22.4) liters. (use cross multiplication to come up with the answer) = 0.1/22.4 = 4.46 x 10^-3

Ans Dit's given 10% by volume= 10ml N2 in 100ml air, so in 1litre, it will be 100ml of N2. density of N2 =1.25g/l,, so mass of 100ml N2 is 0.125g. now, moles is 0.125/28

The number of mole of nitrogen in one litre of air containing 10% nitr...
Calculation of Number of Moles of Nitrogen:
- Given that air contains 10% nitrogen by volume.
- Air consists of approximately 78% nitrogen by volume.
- Therefore, the mole fraction of nitrogen in air = 0.10 * 0.78 = 0.078.

Using Ideal Gas Law:
- Under standard conditions, 1 mole of any gas occupies 22.4 L.
- Therefore, the number of moles of nitrogen in 1 L of air = 0.078 moles.

Final Calculation:
- The number of moles of nitrogen in 1 litre of air is 0.078 moles.
- Thus, the correct answer is (a) 0.03 moles, as it is the closest option to 0.078 moles.
