  • Paramahansa Mandali Founded in 1849 in Maharashtra, the founders of the Paramahansa Mandali—Dadoba Pandurang, Mehtaji Durgaram and others—began as a secret society that worked to reform Hindu religion and society in general. The founders of the mandali were primarily interested in breaking caste rules. The ideology of the society was closely linked to that of the Manav Dharma Sabha.
