    Roughness coefficient.

    The Manning roughness coefficient (n) is a measure of the resistance to flow in the drain. It depends on the characteristics of the drain material, such as roughness and shape. The higher the value of n, the rougher the drain and the higher the resistance to flow.

    The drain bed slope (S) is the slope or gradient of the drain bed. It is usually expressed as a percentage or a ratio. A steeper slope will result in a higher discharge capacity, while a flatter slope will result in a lower discharge capacity.

    To calculate the peak discharge through the tile drain under full flow condition, you need to know the values of S and n. Once you have these values, you can substitute them into the equation Q = 6.715 X 10-4S0.5n-1 to calculate the peak discharge.

    For example, if the drain bed slope is 0.01 (1%) and the Manning roughness coefficient is 0.02, the calculation would be:

    Q = 6.715 X 10-4(0.01)0.5(0.02)-1
    Q = 6.715 X 10-4(0.01)0.5(50)
    Q = 6.715 X 10-4(0.1)(50)
    Q = 6.715 X 10-4(5)
    Q = 3.3575 X 10-3 m3s-1

    So, the peak discharge through the tile drain under full flow condition would be 3.3575 X 10-3 m3s-1.
