Verified Answer
In a class of 60 students , 40% of the students passed in Reasoning, 5...
Given:

Total student = 60

Passed in Quants = 40% students

Failed in both the subjects= 5%

Passed in Both subjects = 20%

Calculation:

The number of failed students in both subjects = 5% of 60

= 5/100 × 60 = 3

The number of passed students in both subjects = 20% of 60

= 20/100 × 60 = 12

The number of students who passed in Quants = 40% of 60

= 40/100 × 60 = 24

Those passed only in Quants = 24 - 12 = 12

Those passed only in Reasoning = 60 - (12+12+3)

= 60 - 27 = 33

∴ The correct answer is 33.

In a class of 60 students , 40% of the students passed in Reasoning, 5...
Given data:
Total number of students = 60
Percentage of students passed in Reasoning = 40%
Percentage of students failed in Quants and Reasoning = 5%
Percentage of students passed in both subjects = 20%

To find: Number of students passed only in Quants

Solution:
Let's first find out the number of students who passed in Reasoning.

Number of students passed in Reasoning = (40/100) x 60 = 24

Now, let's find out the number of students who failed in Quants and Reasoning.

Number of students failed in Quants and Reasoning = (5/100) x 60 = 3

We know that 20% of the students passed in both the subjects. So, the number of students who passed in both the subjects will be:

Number of students passed in both the subjects = (20/100) x 60 = 12

Now, we can find out the number of students who passed in Quants as follows:

Number of students passed in Quants = Total number of students - Number of students failed in Quants and Reasoning - Number of students passed in both the subjects

Number of students passed in Quants = 60 - 3 - 12 = 45

Finally, we can find out the number of students who passed only in Quants as follows:

Number of students passed only in Quants = Number of students passed in Quants - Number of students passed in both the subjects

Number of students passed only in Quants = 45 - 12 = 33

Therefore, the number of students passed only in Quants is 33, which is option (b).
