Let the present age of the Father and Son be F and S years

So F-3 = 7(S-3) 

And F+3 = 4(S+3)

Adding these two equations 2F = 11S -9 

Subtracting them we get -6 = 3S-33 

This last equation gives S = 9

Substituting we get 2F = 11 x 9 - 9 Or F = 45
