The occupational composition of India's population shows a larger in primary sector as compared to secondary and tertiary sector bcoz India was a agriculture based economy from the beginning and most of the population is already dependent on agriculture as most of the population is settled in rural areas so the basic thing they do is work on their fields and so they dependent on agriculture so larger population is engaged in primary sector as compared to secondary and tertiary sector. The literacy rate is also low so this also imply that there is more population in primary sector as compared to secondary and tertiary sector
