Given Values:


  • Resistance (R) = 100 ohm

  • Inductance (L) = 0.5 Henry

  • Capacitance (C) = 0.00001f

  • Frequency (f) = 50 Hz



Formula Used:

Z = √[R2 + (XL - XC)2]

where,

XL = 2πfL = Inductive Reactance

XC = 1/(2πfC) = Capacitive Reactance


Solution:


  1. Calculate Inductive Reactance:

    XL = 2πfL = 2 x 3.14 x 50 x 0.5 = 157 ohm

  2. Calculate Capacitive Reactance:

    XC = 1/(2πfC) = 1/(2 x 3.14 x 50 x 0.00001) = 3183.1 ohm

  3. Calculate Impedance:

    Z = √[R2 + (XL - XC)2] = √[(100 x 100) + (157 - 3183.1)2] = 101.3 ohm



Answer:

The impedance of the series circuit is 101.3 ohm.
