Amoeba is a unicellular organism belonging to the group of protozoans. It reproduces through a process called binary fission, which involves the division of a single parent cell into two daughter cells. Here are the details of binary fission in amoeba:

1. Cellular Structure: Amoeba has a flexible cell membrane and lacks a rigid cell wall. It has a single nucleus and various organelles within its cytoplasm.

2. Initiation: The process of binary fission starts when the amoeba reaches its maximum size and divides to form two equal-sized daughter cells.

3. Replication of Genetic Material: Before division, the genetic material (DNA) of the amoeba is replicated to ensure that each daughter cell receives a complete set of genetic information.

4. Division of Cytoplasm: The cell membrane of the amoeba undergoes constriction at the center, forming a furrow. The furrow gradually deepens, leading to the separation of the cytoplasm into two halves.

5. Nucleus Division: During the process, the nucleus of the amoeba also divides into two daughter nuclei.
