Which statement is wrong about the function of braina)Hypothalamus mai...
The autonomic nervous system is regulated by the hypothalamus and the brain stem, overseeing functions such as respiration rate, heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and sweating. Voluntary muscle activity is governed by the motor cortex in the cerebrum, while the cerebellum coordinates these voluntary movements. The medulla oblongata, a part of the brain stem, controls involuntary activities like respiration and blood pressure. Sensations from the skin to the thalamus travel through the spinothalamic pathway.

Function of Brain and its Parts

The brain is the most complex organ in the human body and it controls all the functions of the body. It is responsible for receiving, processing, and transmitting information throughout the body. The brain is divided into different parts, each with its own function.

Hypothalamus Controls A.N.S.

The hypothalamus is a small but important part of the brain located just below the thalamus. It plays a crucial role in maintaining homeostasis in the body by regulating the autonomic nervous system (A.N.S.). The hypothalamus controls many of the body's vital functions, including body temperature, hunger, thirst, and sleep. It also regulates the release of hormones from the pituitary gland, which is located just above the hypothalamus.

Voluntary Muscle Activity is Not Started by Cerebellum

The cerebellum is a part of the brain located at the back of the skull, just above the brainstem. It is responsible for coordinating voluntary muscle activity and maintaining balance and posture. However, it does not start voluntary muscle activity, rather it refines and coordinates movements that have already been initiated by the motor cortex. The motor cortex is responsible for planning and initiating voluntary movements.

Medulla Oblongata Regulates Involuntary Activity of Our Body

The medulla oblongata is a part of the brainstem that connects the brain to the spinal cord. It plays a crucial role in regulating many involuntary activities of the body, including breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure. The medulla oblongata also controls reflexes such as coughing, vomiting, and swallowing.

Thalamus is Responsible for Crude Sensation

The thalamus is a part of the brain located just above the brainstem. It acts as a relay center for sensory information from the body to the cerebral cortex. The thalamus is responsible for processing and relaying information related to crude sensation such as touch, pain, and temperature. It also plays a role in regulating consciousness, alertness, and sleep.

In conclusion, the statement that voluntary muscle activity is started by the cerebellum is incorrect. The cerebellum coordinates and refines movements initiated by the motor cortex. All other statements regarding the function of different parts of the brain are correct.
