Pellagra is caused due to deficiency of Vitamin B3 - niacin ( nicotinic acid )..it is marked by dementia , diarrhea , dermatitis. Nicotinic acid plays a crucial role in cellular process called respiration.

Pellagra is due to prolonged deficiency of Nicotinic Acid or Niacin (Vitamin B3).Since Niacin and Plant Growth Regulator Auxin have the same precursor, that is, Amino Acid Tryptophan, hence for the first time Auxin was isolated from the urine of a Pellagra patient.
