Auxin is basically growth promoting hormone.. so in shoot tip, it promotes shoot growth..nd also enhances root growth..
in tissue culture, we need growth of root as frst priority to maximise the success rate..nd auxin does this..so it is called root promoting hormone in tissue culture..ya it will also promote shoot growth but due to frst priority being root, it is called so..in tissue culture..
