Stomatal response to increased CO2 concentration
When CO2 concentration increases around a leaf, the concentration gradient between the intercellular spaces of the leaf and the atmosphere reduces. This reduces the diffusion of CO2 from the atmosphere into the intercellular spaces of the leaf. This results in a decrease in the demand for CO2 by the leaf. In response, the stomata close to reduce the loss of water through transpiration.

Effect on transpiration
When the stomata close due to an increase in CO2 concentration, transpiration decreases. This is because the stomata act as the primary pathway for water loss from the leaf. Closure of the stomata reduces the flow of water from the leaves to the atmosphere, resulting in a decrease in transpiration.
