Firstly you have to learn that species having 14 total electrons (N2) has 3 B.O. then if we increase or decrease 1 from 14 (means 13 and 15) b.o. decrease by .5 and we decrease or increase 1 more than b.o. also decrease by .5
for example N2 has 14 e so 3 b.o
N2+ or N2- has 13 and 15 so b.o. 2.5
NO- has 16 e so b.o. 2
and so on
