Given:
1. The vessel is full of refined oil.
2. 1/4 of the refined oil is taken out and the vessel is filled with mustard oil.
3. The above process is repeated 4 times.
4. 10 litres of refined oil is finally left in the vessel.

To find: The capacity of the vessel.

Solution:
Let the capacity of the vessel be x liters.
After the 1st operation, 3/4 of the refined oil is left in the vessel and 1/4 of x liters of refined oil is taken out.
Therefore, the quantity of refined oil left in the vessel = (3/4) x
The quantity of mustard oil added = (1/4) x
Total quantity of oil after the 1st operation = (3/4) x + (1/4) x = x

After the 2nd operation, 3/4 of x liters of oil is left in the vessel and 1/4 of x liters of oil is taken out.
Therefore, the quantity of refined oil left in the vessel = (3/4) (3/4) x
The quantity of mustard oil added = (1/4) (3/4) x
Total quantity of oil after the 2nd operation = (3/4) (3/4) x + (1/4) (3/4) x = (9/16) x

Similarly, after the 3rd operation, the total quantity of oil left in the vessel = (27/64) x
After the 4th operation, the total quantity of oil left in the vessel = (81/256) x

It is given that after the 4th operation, 10 litres of refined oil is left in the vessel.
Therefore, (81/256) x = 10
x = (2560/81) litres

Hence, the capacity of the vessel is 2560/81 litres, which is option (C).
