Problem Statement: Two pipes A and B can fill a tank in 15 minutes and 40 minutes respectively. Both the pipes are opened together but after 4 minutes, pipe A is turned off. What is the total time required to fill the tank?

Solution:
Let's assume the capacity of the tank is 120 liters (LCM of 15 and 40).
Therefore, the rate of pipe A = 120/15 = 8 liters/min
The rate of pipe B = 120/40 = 3 liters/min
Let's say both pipes are open for 't' minutes.
Therefore, the total amount of water filled in 't' minutes = 8t + 3t = 11t liters
After 4 minutes, only pipe B is working and it fills the remaining (120-44=76) liters of the tank.
Time taken by pipe B to fill 76 liters = 76/3 = 25 min 20 sec
Therefore, the total time taken to fill the tank = 4 + 25 min 20 sec = 29 min 20 sec

Hence, option C is the correct answer.
