    2n = N
    n → Number of address lines
    N → Number of Memory locations
    ∴ 2n = 16 kB
    = 24(210)    [∵ 1 kB = 210]
    = 214
    n = 14

    Explanation:

    • The 8085 microprocessor has a 16-bit address bus.

    • Therefore, the 8085 microprocessor can address up to 2^16 (64 K) memory locations.

    • However, the 8085 microprocessor has only 8-bit data bus.

    • Therefore, the 8085 microprocessor can transfer data in 8-bit chunks.

    • To access a 16 K byte memory bank, we need to find the number of address lines required.

    • 16 K byte memory bank means 16 * 1024 = 16384 bytes.

    • 16384 bytes can be addressed by 2^14 (16384 = 2^14) memory locations.

    • Therefore, to access a 16 K byte memory bank, we need 14 address lines.
