Retardation Calculation

- Initial speed of the car, u = 126 km/h = 35 m/s
- Final speed of the car, v = 0 m/s
- Distance traveled, s = 200 m

Using the equation of motion:
v^2 = u^2 + 2as,
0 = (35)^2 + 2*a*200,
a = - (35)^2 / (2*200) = -3.87 m/s^2

Therefore, the retardation of the car is 3.87 m/s^2.

Time taken to stop

- Using the equation of motion:
v = u + at,
0 = 35 + (-3.87)t,
t = 35 / 3.87 = 9.03 seconds

Therefore, it will take approximately 9.03 seconds for the car to come to a halt.
