A ball looses 15%KE when it collide with concrete wall.with what speed...
Height =12.4m
v^2=u^2+2as
v^2=u^2+2×10×12.4=u^2+248
initial KE =mv^2=[m(u^2+248)]/2
final KE= 1/2mv^2-1/2×15/100mv^2
=85/100mv^2
=85/100(u^2+248)
let velocity of ball after hitting the ground be v1
then 1/2mv1^2= final KE=85/100(u^2+248)
so v1=(u^2+248)85/100
when ball moves upward after hitting the ground
final velocity =0
initial velocity=v1=u^2+248
so
v^2=u^2+2as
0=(u^2+248)85/100+2(-10)12.4
u=6.5
ans- 6.5
