Order of Acidic Strength for Alkane, Alkene, and Alkynes

There are several factors that affect the acidic strength of organic compounds, such as their molecular structure, bond strength, and electron distribution. In general, the more electronegative an atom or group of atoms is, the more acidic the compound will be. Based on these factors, the order of acidic strength for alkane, alkene, and alkynes can be determined.

Alkane

Alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons that contain only single bonds between carbon atoms. They are considered to be the least acidic of the three types of compounds because they lack functional groups that can donate or withdraw electrons. Alkanes do not have any acidic protons that can be easily removed, which means that they cannot donate hydrogen ions (H+) to a base.

Alkene

Alkenes are unsaturated hydrocarbons that contain at least one double bond between carbon atoms. They are more acidic than alkanes because the pi bond between the two adjacent carbon atoms is electron-rich and can donate electrons to a base. The pi bond also causes the carbon-hydrogen bond to become weaker, which makes it easier for the hydrogen ion to be removed. The order of acidic strength for alkenes depends on the electron-donating or withdrawing groups attached to the carbon atoms of the double bond.

Alkyne

Alkynes are unsaturated hydrocarbons that contain at least one triple bond between carbon atoms. They are the most acidic of the three types of compounds because the triple bond is even more electron-rich than the double bond in alkenes. The carbon-hydrogen bond in alkynes is even weaker than in alkenes, which makes it easier for the hydrogen ion to be removed. The order of acidic strength for alkynes also depends on the electron-donating or withdrawing groups attached to the carbon atoms of the triple bond.

In summary, the order of acidic strength for alkane, alkene, and alkyne is as follows:

Alkane < alkene="" />< />

This is because the electronegativity and electron distribution in the compounds increase from alkane to alkyne.

What is order of acidic strength for alkane, alkene, alkynes ?
Its alkyne> alkene>alkane bcoz of most acidic hydrogens present in alkyne due sp hybridization and high% of s character so high electronegatvity in case of alkene sp2 hybridized orbital with less% of s character and at last alkane with least % of s character
