Understanding the Seating Arrangement
To solve the problem, we need to establish the positions of P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, and Y based on the given clues.
Clue Analysis
- P sits fourth to the left of V.
- V's position: V can either be sixth from the left or fourth from the right.
Case Analysis for V's Position
1. If V is sixth from the left:
- The arrangement: _ _ _ _ P V _ _ _
- P would be in the 2nd position.
2. If V is fourth from the right:
- The arrangement: _ _ _ V P _ _ _
- P would then be in the 1st position.
Determining R's Position
- S sits second to the right of R.
- R is not an immediate neighbor of V.
When V is sixth from the left:
- R cannot occupy the 5th or 7th position.
When V is fourth from the right:
- R cannot occupy the 3rd or 5th position.
After testing both cases, we find that:
Arranged Configuration
The correct arrangement emerges as:
- _ R S P V X T Q Y _
Identifying Positions
- R is in the 3rd position.
- T is in the 6th position.
Counting Persons Between R and T
- There is one person (S) seated between R and T.
Thus, the answer to how many persons are seated between R and T is:
Correct Answer: THREE (R, S, T)
