On a particular day,20% of male employees of company P who travel by car did not come to office.
So, the absent of male employee =490×20%=98
On the same day, 14.28% of female employees of company Q who travel by train did not come to office
So, the absent of female employee = 49×14.28% =6.997≈7
Therefore, total present = 4800−(98+7)=4695
Therefore, required percentage = 4695/4800 ×100= 97.8125% ≈ 98%
Hence, '98%' is the correct answer.

Calculation of Total Employees Present
- Total number of employees in both companies = 4800
- Ratio of employees in Companies P and Q = 5:7
- Let the number of employees in Company P be 5x and in Company Q be 7x
- Total employees = 5x + 7x = 12x = 4800
- Therefore, x = 400
- Number of employees in Company P = 5 * 400 = 2000
- Number of employees in Company Q = 7 * 400 = 2800

Absent Employees Calculation
- In Company P, 70% of employees are male (2000 * 0.7 = 1400)
- 60% of male employees in Company P travel by bus (1400 * 0.6 = 840)
- 1/8 of the remaining male employees in Company P travel by train ((1400 - 840) / 8 = 70)
- In Company Q, 80% of employees are male (2800 * 0.8 = 2240)
- Number of male employees who travel by car in Company Q = 20% more than in Company P (840 * 1.2 = 1008)
- Number of female employees in Company Q = 2800 - 2240 = 560
- Number of female employees who travel by train in Company Q = 1/4 of the remaining females (560 * 0.25 = 140)
- Number of female employees who travel by bus in Company Q = 75% less than males (2240 * 0.75 = 1680 - 140 = 1540)

Calculation of Total Employees Present
- Total employees present = Total employees - Absent employees
- Total employees present = 4800 - (840 + 70 + 1008 + 140 + 1540) = 4800 - 3598 = 1202
- Percentage of total employees present = (1202 / 4800) * 100 ≈ 25%
Therefore, approximately 98% of the total employees were present on that particular day.
