A polygenic trait is a trait that is governed by more than one gene. e.g. Human skin colour which is governed by three pairs of genes in which dominant allele express only a part of trait of each gene and the expression of full trait is only possible when dominant alleles of all multiple genes are present. Presence of genes for skin colour are on autosomes. Thus, cannot exhibit sex-linked inheritance. Multiple allelism is the presence of more than two alleles for a gene and in skin colour there is only two alleles for each gene. In Pleiotropy gene has its own independent effects but it can also modify expression quantitatively of a completely different gene.
