Given below are two statements:Statement I: Autoimmune disorder is a c...
Statement I is correct: Autoimmune disorders occur when the body's immune system mistakenly recognizes its own cells and tissues as foreign and attacks them. This results in an immune response against self-cells, leading to various autoimmune diseases.
Statement II is incorrect: Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system does attack self-cells. In rheumatoid arthritis, the immune system mistakenly targets the synovium (lining of the joints), causing inflammation, pain, and damage to the joints. Therefore, Statement II is incorrect as it states that the body does not attack self-cells in rheumatoid arthritis, which is not true.
