Respiration is a physiological process because it involves exchange of O2 and CO2 on the principle of diffusion ( a physical process) as well as oxidation of glucose to produce energy-rich molecules ( achemical process).. Total lung capacity (TLC) includes vital capacity (VC) and residual volume. Cutaneous respiration is the breathing via skin. Inspired air is the air we inhale from the atmosphere. Alveolar air is the air in the alveoli of the lungs.

Which of the following is not correctly matched :a)Inspired air = Alve...
Explanation:

The correct answer is option A: Inspired air = Alveolar air.

Inspired air:
- Inspired air refers to the air that is taken into the respiratory system during inhalation.
- It is the air that is present in the atmosphere and enters the respiratory system through the nasal passages or mouth.

Alveolar air:
- Alveolar air refers to the air that is present in the alveoli of the lungs.
- The alveoli are tiny air sacs in the lungs where gas exchange takes place.
- The alveolar air is in direct contact with the pulmonary capillaries, allowing for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.

Difference between inspired air and alveolar air:
- Inspired air contains a higher concentration of oxygen (about 21%) and a lower concentration of carbon dioxide (about 0.04%) compared to alveolar air.
- Alveolar air, on the other hand, has a lower concentration of oxygen (about 13-16%) and a higher concentration of carbon dioxide (about 5-6%) due to the gas exchange that occurs between the alveoli and the blood.

Significance:
- The difference in the composition of inspired air and alveolar air is crucial for the process of respiration.
- During inhalation, the oxygen-rich inspired air enters the lungs and reaches the alveoli, where it undergoes gas exchange with the blood.
- The oxygen diffuses from the alveoli into the blood, while carbon dioxide diffuses from the blood into the alveoli.
- This exchange of gases allows for the oxygenation of the blood and the removal of carbon dioxide, which is essential for cellular respiration.

Conclusion:
- Inspired air and alveolar air are not the same. Inspired air refers to the air taken into the respiratory system during inhalation, while alveolar air refers to the air present in the alveoli of the lungs.
- The difference in the composition of these two types of air is vital for the process of respiration and gas exchange in the lungs.
- Therefore, option A is not correctly matched.
