Reason (R): In compound umbel, both involucre and involucels are present.
  • a)
Both Assertion and Reason are true and Reason is the correct explanation of Assertion.
  • b)
Both Assertion and Reason are true but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.
  • c)
Assertion is true but Reason is false.

In the following question, a Statement of Assertion (A) is given follo...
Explanation:
The Assertion(A) is correct as the Compound umbel is a type of inflorescence in which the main axis divides repeatedly to form multiple umbels, and each umbel is further divided into smaller umbels. Hence, it is branched.

The Reason(R) is also correct as Compound umbel consists of both involucre and involucels. Involucre is a whorl of bracts at the base of the umbel, while involucels are bracts that occur at the base of each secondary umbel. Therefore, both involucre and involucels are present in Compound umbel.

However, Reason(R) alone is not sufficient to explain Assertion(A) because the presence of involucre and involucels in Compound umbel does not necessarily mean that it is branched. Other types of inflorescences, such as the simple umbel, also have involucre and involucels, but they are not branched.

Therefore, option (B) is the correct answer as both Assertion and Reason are true, but Reason is not the correct explanation of Assertion.

Option b is correct if we see first statement it's reason is that ,main axis is very short and flowers appear to be rise from a common point and it look like branching.statement b is also correct as in c umbel involucre means group of bract are present at the base but this is not the reason of branching
