Verified Answer
The ruling minimum radius of horizontal curve of a national highway in...
e+f = (v2/127R).
0.07+0.15 = (10000/127R).
R = 10000/(127X.22).
= 357.90.
= 360.

The ruling minimum radius of horizontal curve of a national highway in...
Given data:
- Ruling design speed = 100 km/hour
- Superelevation = e = 0.07
- Coefficient of friction = f = 0.15

To determine: The minimum radius of a horizontal curve of a national highway in plain terrain

Formula:
Minimum radius of horizontal curve = (V^2 / g (e+f))

where,
V = Speed (in m/s)
g = Acceleration due to gravity (9.81 m/s^2)

Calculation:
1 km/hour = 0.2778 m/s
∴ V = 100 km/hour x 0.2778 = 27.78 m/s

Minimum radius of horizontal curve = (27.78^2 / 9.81 (0.07+0.15))
= 359.94 m ≈ 360 m

Therefore, the minimum radius of a horizontal curve of a national highway in plain terrain for ruling design speed of 100 km/hour with e = 0.07 and f = 0.15 is close to 360 m.
