Merits:

He classified all the known 63 elements at that time. He left gaps for elements to be discovered later on e.g eka aluminium(Galium), eka silicon(Germanium) He pridicted properties of these unknown elements.


Demerits of Mendeleev Periodic Table


. He was unable to locate hydrogen in the periodic table. Increase in atomic mass was not regular while moving from one element to another. Hence, the number of elements yet to be discovered was not predictable.
