Sodium atom in the crystal lattice migrates from its site and combines with chlorine atom. thus there is empty space left anionic site in the crystal lattice from where sodium atom migrated to combine with chlorine atom to form NaCl and that empty space is filled by the electron which was released by sodium atom while combining with chlorine. and that anionic site of the crystal lattice where unpaired electrons is present is called farbenzenter centers or F centres which results in imparting of yellow colour to the crystal when it absorbs energy and the electrons get excited.
