A plant cell placed in pure water willa)expand until the osmotic poten...
Pure water is hypotonic when compared to a plant cell, which implies that the concentration of solute is more inside the cell. therefore by osmosis, solvent move from solution of lower concentration(of solute)to higher concentration(of solute). therefore the plant cell takes up the solvent(pure water) and become turgid. Here the cell wall act as the semi permeable membrane. And by doing that, the pressure inside the cell become equal to that on the outside.
