Glycolysis Steps:

1. Step 1: Phosphorylation

- The phosphorylation reaction requires the input of one ATP molecule, which is converted to ADP.
- Glucose-6-phosphate is formed as a result of this reaction.

2. Step 2: Isomerization
- Glucose-6-phosphate isomerizes into its isomer, fructose-6-phosphate, through the action of the enzyme phosphoglucose isomerase.
- This step is important because it prepares the glucose molecule for further reactions in the pathway.

3. Step 3: Second Phosphorylation
- Fructose-6-phosphate is phosphorylated by the enzyme phosphofructokinase-1 using another ATP molecule.
- Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate is formed as a result of this reaction.

4. Step 4: Cleavage
- Fructose-1,6-bisphosphate is cleaved into two three-carbon molecules: dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G3P).
- This reaction is catalyzed by the enzyme aldolase.

5. Step 5: Isomerization
- Dihydroxyacetone phosphate (DHAP) isomerizes into another molecule of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G3P) through the action of the enzyme triose phosphate isomerase.
- This conversion ensures that there are two molecules of G3P available for subsequent reactions.

6. Step 6: Oxidation and ATP Generation
- Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate (G3P) is oxidized by the enzyme glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase.
- This reaction involves the transfer of electrons to NAD+, forming NADH and a high-energy compound called 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate.
- In this process, one molecule of ATP is generated by substrate-level phosphorylation.

7. Step 7: ATP Generation
- 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate is converted into 3-phosphoglycerate by the enzyme phosphoglycerate kinase.
- Another molecule of ATP is generated through substrate-level phosphorylation.

8. Step 8: Rearrangement
- 3-phosphoglycerate is converted into 2-phosphoglycerate by the enzyme phosphoglycerate mutase.

9. Step 9: Dehydration
- 2-phosphoglycerate is dehydrated to form phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) through the action of the enzyme enolase
