Let the amount of milk be 3x and water be x
In one litre of the mixture, there is 3/4 litre of milk.
In one litre of the mixture, there is 1/4 litre of water.
Quantity of milk left in the mixture = 3x – 3/4 × 2
Quantity of water left in the mixture = x – 1/4 × 2

⇒ x = 5
∴ Total amount of mixture = 3x + x = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20 litres
